We had a very productive meeting yesterday regarding the proposed changes proposed by the REIV. I was happy to see that the majority of the inspectors <80% were MIA members.
This is a serious issue and for those who are unaware of the proposed changes, it simply means that pest and building reports will be organised by the Agent aand included in the contract of sale. This strips away the consumers right to independent due diligence and opens the floodgates to preferential appointment of inspectors to conduct these inspections leaving many of you behind.
A committee was formed yesterday which is designed to defend our rights as inspectors and object to these changes which are only affecting Victoria at this time, however if these changes come into affect it would only be a matter of time before other states follow.

This is very important and a submission must be presented by Friday February 21st which is only a few days away. Please get involved
